Soon to be released.........

Over the past few years, Sherrie Worley has been teaching a select group of Utah County children how to read in the basement of her Orem home, otherwise known as My Smart World preschool. Sherrie discovered the "Spalding Method" (phonetics based) for teaching children to read several years ago, and has seen outstanding results in using this curriculum with children. About children, Ms. Sherrie stated, "Children are intelligent. They've learned the spoken language on their own. They already know the sounds, so we help them recognize what their mouths, tongues and throats are already doing and match it to a symbol or letter. Puppet visitors add to the fun."

Ms Sherrie enjoys seeing the children grow and expand their horizons. Ms Sherrie says, "It's so exciting to see the children's eyes light up when they learn new skills. They are thrilled with their own accomplishments and gain self-confidence. It is so essential to get a solid foundation of phonetic based reading skills. Children will build upon this the rest of their lives. Children should first learn to read, and then read to learn. Reading opens new worlds for children everywhere." Sherrie's success in teaching children to read has inspired her to build a much bigger new preschool for this September 2005. It is located in Lindon, on 40 South and 100 East. This is near Lindon Elementary and Timpanogos Academy. This new facility will hold three preschool rooms, a Kindergarten extension classroom, a large gym and a fenced outside play area.

Sherrie says, "I was fortunate enough to have a great deal of success in teaching the children enrolled in my preschool. Their parents were usually so excited about their children learning they would tell their friends. Then, very often, parents' from a distance would carpool together so their children could attend. With more and more children enrolled in my preschool, it just got to a point that I could no longer fit everyone in my basement!"

The Siltala family of Provo, Utah is a great example of the fire that has spread through the families of children enrolled in My Smart World. Mat Siltala is the father of, Ivy Siltala, who he says "has absolutely blossomed this year with 'Ms. Sherrie'. Ivy comes home every day and teaches us a new song, and a new word. She is now reading, and I absolutely cannot believe it."

Mat is a  search engine optimization expert and decided that he wanted to give something back to 'Ms. Sherrie' so he built her a brand new website, www.mysmartworld.com.  I'd have to say that Mat did a pretty good job. www.mysmartworld.com is now the number one search result at Google for phrases like provo preschool, orem preschool, lindon preschool, and utah valley preschool. Mat says, "I just want other families in the area to have an opportunity to hear about My Smart World preschool, and I hope that the new website is able to provide that exposure!"

Lori Robinson of Highland Utah said the drive to Lindon for MySmartWorld preschool is worth it. "The other preschools that my older boys went to were more like a play group. At MSW, the curriculum is learning and the children have fun doing it. They learned songs, stories, poems, art, used Saxon math and Spalding phonics. It wasn't like they were sitting behind a desk; they were taught in a fun way. In learning to read they learned the different sounds that the letters made, instead of the letter names. My son Justin, when I hold up a letter J for him to identify, he says the sound "J" not the letter name, which makes it easier for him to sound out the words. This is a good foundation for his years of reading in elementary school."

Lori emphasizes, "Curriculum really is the key to a better education at all ages." Lori has worked hundreds of volunteer hours in selecting, purchasing and organizing curriculum for three different Utah Valley Charter schools. Currently she is working as Chairman of the Curriculum committee for a new charter school, Mountainville Academy opening fall 2006 in Alpine, UT. She says, "If we provide quality sources of materials for the children to learn from, their minds are stimulated and they soon develop a love for learning."

Denise Rosenvall of Pleasant Grove, says My Smart World preschool has a terrific phonics program. "My twins learned so much. They looked forward to each class. It was a great preparation for kindergarten."

Mandy Clegg was so happy with Miss Sherrie's program at My Smart World Preschool for her two daughters, that she laviously decorated Miss Sherrie's daughter's wedding. The large flower arrangements were beautiful. Miss Sherrie and Mandy both feel that their different services greatly enhanced their daughters lives. "It's neat to share our professional talents and see our girls benefit and blossom from it."

I think if 'Ms. Sherrie' can continue helping children learn to read and expand their worlds, she will have no trouble filling her new preschool, and may be building again before she knows it.
